Trustees for Burmantofts Community Projects

Burmantofts Community Projects is a non-profit organisation which is based at Ebor Gardens, Burmantofts, Leeds.  Ebor Gardens Advice Centre was set up by local people in 1987 and it became the registered charity BCP in 2018.

BCP is funded by the Money Advice Service, Leeds City Council and the Big Lottery Fund.  It provides face-to-face money advice services, a form-filling service (Benefit Buddies) and a unique, award-winning financial capability service (Money Buddies).  In addition, there is the Money Buddy Network, which is a nationwide project.

The Charity is currently looking to recruit more trustees to the Board.  Being a Trustee is an unpaid role, although reasonable expenses will be refunded.  Trustees help to set the direction for the Charity, ensure that it is meeting its charitable objectives, and helping its intended beneficiaries.  You can make a vital difference by contributing your knowledge and experience, and thereby strengthening the capacity and impact of BCP.  The skills and experience we are seeking in particular are:

  • Business and financial acumen
  • Digital marketing skills
  • Fundraising ability
  • A knowledge of the area of legislation which affects BCP’s work.

We would welcome applications from those with experience of the locality and of the needs of the Charity’s beneficiaries, and we are wanting to build a more diverse team of Trustees.

The Trustee Board meets every two months, normally at the Ebor Gardens Advice Centre, but currently via video conference.  Trustees are involved in committees of the Board, such as Finance and Personnel, Policy Review Group, Strategy Group, Health and Safety, Fundraising and Marketing.

Applications should be in the form of a CV plus a covering letter, which should explain why you are interested in applying and what you feel you could contribute to the work of the Trustees. These should be sent to Madeleine Andrews, the Chair of the Board, at from whom further information may be obtained.  Please include the names and contact details of two referees.
